Never Empty-Handed

Reading CCC 336 changed how I thought about my guardian angel.

What struck me was the realization that God’s care includes this companionship through our lives: an angel watching over us, interceding for us, and helping guide us toward Him.

That became deeply personal. I thought about choices I had made and moments when I had ignored what I knew was right. I felt shame imagining how often I must have disappointed my guardian angel.

But alongside that regret came gratitude. God had provided help and care that I had given so little thought to.

Now, when I attend Mass, I sometimes picture my guardian angel bringing my offerings to the altar.

That image makes me ask: What am I bringing today?

My thanksgiving? A struggle I need to surrender? Someone who needs prayer? My willingness to listen and change?

It brings me back to the difference between being at Mass physically and being there with my heart. I want to offer my life with all its imperfections, trusting Christ to help me grow.

I hope I never send my guardian angel up empty-handed.

And when I feel I have very little to bring, I can still offer an honest prayer: “Lord, here I am. Help me give myself more fully to You.”
